Byron and Marion Join MissionNext

on Monday, 15 April 2013. Posted in Byron's Adventure, Marion's Adventure

Dear Friends,

We are incredibly excited to tell you about our newest and most exciting adventure to date. As many of you know, we have been on many adventures in our personal lives, in our marriage and in our family. Many would even label us "adventurous". We've been known to ride motorcycles, run marathons, complete adventure races, leave the corporate world to run our own business, and so much more.

Now God is leading us down our greatest adventure ever. Several years ago, if you had asked us if we'd ever be "missionaries" we might have given you quite the crazy look. However, in the past three years, God has really challenged us in our faith and our relationship with Him. We had no idea our corporate skills could be used for missions work and we had no idea we'd develop such a heart and passion for it. We thought we had to be "bible scholars" to be missionaries. However God showed us that there are incredibly important positions "behind the scenes" that help mobilize and support missionaries in the field, many of which are unfilled and in great need. Enter, MissionNext. After a couple years of feeling called towards missions, but not knowing our exact fit, God presented us with an opportunity at an organization that had been praying for two positions they had a great need to fill: A Director of Web Development and a Director of Marketing. These were critical positions for their growing agency and while they knew God would provide, they had not yet found a good fit for either position. Enter, the Olsens.

After much prayer, consulting God's word, and advice from key mentors, we felt compelled to fill both positions. After much prayer, scrutiny, and interviews with MissionNext, we were selected as the top candidates for these positions within the MissionNext team. MissionNext needed Byron's help, full time, immediately. Due to this immediate need, Marion made the difficult decision to return to the corporate world so Byron could begin serving immediately, rather than focusing on raising support. Right now Marion is working full time in her corporate position and on top of that, part time with MissionNext. Needless to say, she's busy. However, MissionNext has the need for both of them serving full time. Our goal is to raise enough support so that Marion can serve full-time with MissionNext by April 2014. To get there, we need your help.

We would like to invite you to consider being a part of our adventure. We can't do it alone and adventures are always more fun and memorable with friends and family. Please contact us to learn more about our adventure and how you can be a part of it. We would invite you to consider being a prayer supporter, financial supporter or friend!

Here is a note from the MissionsNext President, Don Parrott.

As the President of MissionNext, I want you to know how grateful we are for our Lord's provision of Byron and Marion to serve in these necessary roles. Mobilizing more workers for His kingdom work is a high and serious calling. We are helping to provide the needed workers to fulfill the incredible range of needs and opportunities worldwide. I ask you to be intentional in your consideration of how you might join Byron and Marion in consistently praying for them, in being part of their financial support team, and by being a friend and encourager in this great adventure God has been preparing them for. Thank you. Sincerely, Don Parrott
